Who are we?
Firstly an independent Evangelical Church
A Church - because we are a group of Christians who meet together to worship God and desire to share with others the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Evangelical - because we believe in the "evangel", or the good news of salvation of the Bible which is our sole authority for our beliefs and conduct.
Independent - because we are freed from denominational, or any other outside control. We are self-governing and self-supporting, but acknowledge our responsibility to, and dependence upon the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head of the Church. We do not support the Ecumenical Movement.
Secondly a Reformed Baptist Church.
We believe in the teaching of the Apostles which was restated by the "Reformers" and is sometimes called the "doctrines of grace" or Calvinism. These are summarized in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. :www.founders.org
We believe that our responsibility is to make known that forgiveness of sin and that an eternal relationship with God comes by faith in Jesus Christ alone not through anything human beings are or can do.
We are not a "Charismatic" Church in the sense that we believe that the Bible is complete. The work of God’s special messengers, the Prophets and the Apostles, has finished and the gifts God did use to speak to people, such as prophecy and tongues, are no longer required and have ceased. We do believe in the vital ministry of the Holy Spirit and recognise that it is not by human power or by might but by the working of God’s Spirit that spiritual progress will come.
Our Members come from many different walks of life and age groups but we are all united by having a common faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
